Endangered Languages from Science NetLinks

This new lesson introduces students to the study of linguistics as a science--focusing on Aleut, a language native to Alaska, and Middle Chulym, a language spoken by only about 35 people in central Siberia. Students can listen to a Science Update podcast highlighting the preservation efforts of one linguist, watch film clips from a PBS documentary showcasing four endangered languages from three continents, and discuss the important link between language and culture.

We are gearing up to train 1,000 Teachers in 1,000 Minutes during June…and we’d like to count you in!

Verizon Thinkfinity is offering FREE one-hour Educator Webinars every Monday through Friday from June 1 through June 26, plus 2 Saturday sessions on June 6 and June 20.

These hands-on, interactive sessions will introduce the thousands of no-cost resources available for 21st century teaching and learning at www.thinkfinity.org. Certificates for one hour of professional development credit are available. Sign up now!
